About us
The Backyard is managed by myself, Gudbjorg Halldorsdottir and my little assistant Moli, who is of course a Yorkshire Terrier. I moved to York from Reykjavik, Iceland in 2018 to follow my heart. Since then the love for my wife and York has simply grown stronger. Most of my career has been dedicated to service industries. I have worked as a personal trainer, massage therapist and I am proud to say that I run my own catering business for over 14 years. Once I settled in the UK, I completed a range of different courses, for example in interior design and hypnotherapy and trained as a NLP therapist (neuro linguistic programing) and a life coach. At that point, I was ready to take the next step and the rest is history.
Pleasureseeker with attention to detail
I love nothing more than having a house full of guests. So when I was presented with the opportunity to purchase a house in our backyard and to turn it into a holiday let, the decision was easy. Guests on my doorstep and opportunities to introduce them to my wonderful city York and its surroundings. Who could ask for anything more? You can count on a very warm welcome and that we will do our absolute best to make sure that you enjoy your stay, how you would like it.
