The Backyard
The Backyard is a newly built house in York, North Yorkshire, oozing with character and offers the perfect accommodation for up to six people. We are located in Heworth, a quiet residential area in York, within 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre where you can access all the wonderful things this amazing city has to offer including countless restaurants, pubs, tea and coffee places. York is known for its collection of small independent and somewhat unusual shops, which are definitely worth visiting. You can, of course, find all the major highstreet retailers here and a designer outlet is only a short bus ride away. For groceries, you are simply spoiled with choice, with all the main grocery shops within easy walking distance. The train station is only 25 minutes walk away (20 minutes to Leeds, 1hour 50 min to London) and if you fancy a ride into town or a day out in the countryside, the bus stops around the corner.
York
If you haven’t been to York, you might want to join the 8 million people who visit our wonderful city every year. With a national rail station in the city centre, York is extremely well connected with direct train links to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. We think York is the smallest big city in England and we love it.
Dinner
As the hostess with the mostess, I love spoiling my guests with some delicious food. Cooking has not only been a passion of mine, but also, an important part of my identity. If you fancy a dinner at mine, I offer a tasty two course meal with a glass of wine and/or a non-alcoholic beverage. Why not give it a go for your first evening in York, to set the tone for a great holiday, or to chill-out on your last night before heading back home. Price, £40 p. person.
Countryside
For those who appreciate DIY holidays, you can simply catch the train or bus to visit nearby villages or to enjoy the beautiful countryside. Many operators also offer guided day tours to popular destinations. Please make sure you book these well in advance. For the more adventurous types and those who plan a longer stay, you can simply hire a car, it will be well worth it.
